How may COVID-19, affect your contractual rights if you are being sued or threatened to be sued
“Force majeure is one of many legal tools that might be at your disposal”
A "force majeure" clause (French for "superior force") is a contract provision that relieves the parties from performing their contractual obligations when certain circumstances beyond their control arise, making performance inadvisable, commercially impracticable, illegal, or impossible.
Typically a list of force majeure events would include: war, riots, fire, flood, hurricane, typhoon, earthquake, lightning, explosion, strikes, lockouts, slowdowns, prolonged shortage of energy supplies, and acts of state or governmental action prohibiting or impeding any party from performing its respective obligations.
“The force majeure clause is not implied into every contract”
Under US law, a force majeure provision is not implied by law with respect to most contracts. Rather, it is up to the parties to negotiate any force majeure provision, the definition of a Force Majeure event, the notice obligations, and other relevant provisions.
In the absence of a force majeure clause, parties to a contract are left to the mercy of the narrow common law contract doctrines of "impracticability" and "frustration of purpose," which rarely result in excuse of performance.

How to know it’s really the IRS calling or knocking on your door
Beware of ImpersonationsScams take many shapes and forms, such as phone calls, letters and emails. Many IRS impersonators use threats to intimidate and bully people into paying a fabricated tax bill. They may even threaten to arrest or deport their would-be victim if the victim doesn’t comply.
